  33.                          ** What does this fix patch ?  **
  34.
  35.      Without going into details, T.A.G. version 2.6c can hang under certain
  36.      conditions in the file area. This is the primary reason for an update.
  37.
  38.      Additionally,  for multinode,  the $WHO.DAT was  located in the AFILES
  39.      directory, forcing systems to share the AFILES directory in  order for
  40.      the "WHO-IS-ON" command  to work properly.  The  $WHO.DAT file  is now
  41.      kept in the Multi-Node Directory.
  42.
  43.      This patch also changes the version number to version 2.6c1.
  44.
  45.                                ** Time Required **
  46.
  47.      It is recommended that you set aside approximately 10 minutes for this
  48.      conversion process.
  49.
  50.
  51.                            ** Current T.A.G. Version **
  52.
  53.      You *MUST* be currently running T.A.G. version 2.6c to use this patch.
  54.
  55.
  56.                           ** Take Down The Your Board **
  57.
  58.      Absurd  as it  may sound  to  most, we  have actually  had cases  where
  59.      SysOp's have  tried  to patch    to  a new  version  of T.A.G.  in  the
  60.      background  (e.g. DesqView) while a user was currently on-line with the
  61.      old version.   Please  do not  try anything  cute with  this conversion
  62.      package.  Take your system down completely.
  63.
  64.      Also do NOT convert  while you shelled to DOS from T.A.G.  or any other
  65.      program.
  66.
  67.      Shut the board completely down before continuing!!!
  68.
  69.
  70.                               ** Getting Started **
  71.
  72.      Yes, this is the evil  backup warning <grin>.  Though we have  tried to
  73.      anticipate the configuration of all possible systems, it is *EXTREMELY*
  74.      important that you back up your current version 2.6c T.A.G. system.  If
  75.      something serious should go wrong with the patch you may have to reload
  76.      the old system and start again.
  77.
  78.      Please backup the following files:
  79.      -    TAG.EXE & TAG.OVR
  80.
  81.      It is always   good idea to  make an EXTRA  backup of your  STATUS.DAT,
  82.      USER.LST,  and MENUS.LST files!
  83.
  84.                                 ** Installation **
  85.
  86.      Unzip the TAGP26C.ZIP file into the main BBS directory (Containing  the
  87.      TAG.EXE and TAG.OVR files.
  88.
  89.      Run the file PATCH26C.BAT by typing PATCH26C in the Main BBS directory.
  90.
  91.      If the patch is successful, and you execute the cleanup portion  of the
  92.      BAT file, the only files that will be left over from the patch will  be
  93.      REBUILD.EXE, PATCH26C.DOC and PATCH26C.BAT. You can delete these files.
  94.
  95.
  96.      Bring the BBS back up!
  97.
  98.                                      Happy BBSing,
  99.
